Project Description
A friend and fellow graduate of the UGA Emerging Media Masters program, the owner of BTF Production Studio in Athens, GA, reached out to me to help him create a branding and identity package for his new videography company.
His company’s primary appeal to clients is quality production and minimal gear at the shoots. So, the logo needed to reflect his business and simplicity, but yet, still have an edginess to it that represents the owners style, while also being professional and sleek.
The first step of this process was to understand what the company was about and how their wants to be perceived by their target audience. Once we determined that the logo needed to resonate with primarily small business owners, I researched to see what other videography companies/photography companies were doing. Then I searched for elements that spoke to me and that I felt like represented my client’s company. Then, I sketched a rough draft of what I had in mind and shared it with my client. He loved it. So, I then translated the design from pencil to digital. The logo that not only represented BTF Production Studio’s “black shirt” style, but would appeal to a variety of small business owners in ultimately any industry. The next step was color.
After developing the logo in black and white, the client and I needed to decide which colors would represent his brand. He really liked the idea of black and white, but I encouraged him to add at least one accent color and perhaps also incorporate grey into the mix to give him a variety of colors to choose from if needed. The client wore a hat to almost every meeting that had a hint of mint green. I asked him what he thought about that color as part of his brand. He loved it.
